Last week, I was perusing the cereal aisle and I decided it was time to try a new flavah. I saw this box…
Ooh, spelt! That’s fun to say. I don’t know what the heck it is, but those little blackberries on the box sure are cute. It has a decent ingredients list…
On Monday I poured myself a bowl…
I usually try to write up the pros and cons for product reviews, but this is going to seem pretty one-sided.
Arrowhead Mills Organic Spelt Flakes
What I liked: It is edible.
What I didn’t like: It tastes like nothing. Now I have been known for enjoying cereals that others find bland, but I was surprised that a cereal with added sugar and salt could be this tasteless. It also gets soggy really fast. We’re talking flacid.
I am desperately trying to get through the box. I know if I don’t eat it fast, then it will sit in my cupboard gathering dust until the day I lose my teeth and can no longer eat cereal. And if there’s one thing I dislike more than disappointing food, it’s wasted food.
So I’ve eaten it for breakfast every morning this week. When you cover it in fruit and drown it in almond milk, it’s palatable!
Okay, I realize I come across as a bit harsh and I may have over-exaggerated a bit. I believe we are entitled to be a bit dramatic on Fridays.
I’m also not going to let this keep me from trying other new cereal. Suggestions?
Off to tackle Friday. Toodle-doo!
Oh, if you want a tasty flake cereal, check out this one.
