At yoga yesterday, our teacher began the class by asking us,
~
“To whom or to what do you give your power?”
~
I wrote a longer post about the word that I chose, but it won’t be appearing on your screens. I became mortified (as I often do when posting) about how much I was talking about myself.
This is particularly ironic because the word is anxiety.

Regardless of what a basketcase I am, I think that the question is an important one. So I pose the question to you: To whom or to what do you give your power?
And perhaps an even more important question: where would you like to give your power?
For me, the answer is to kindness.

I think kindness is a great answer. I probably give most of my power to fear and anxiety as well. It’s something I’m always trying to work on changing.
Yes, I’m trying to work on changing it as well. It is hard though! I wrote in my unpublished entry that sometimes I feel like I have mastered one anxiety, but later I find I’m channeling it into another compulsive behavior.
I can’t help but think of how much more room kindness would have if I could eliminate so much of the space in my head that worries seem to occupy.
Hope you are having a good Monday!
My comment just got erased…hopefully this one goes through.
Anxiety is such an evil monster. I give my power to a few things, including anxiety.
I’m a constant work in progress and will forever be.
I’m going to have to get my thoughts together and get back to you
I can’t wait : )
Ahhh… I needed this today! I was starting to give my power to the wrong thing..!
Yay! Glad it helped.
I usually give my power to other people. Let them judge me, make them doubt myself and comparing me to them. I’ve come to realize this and started working on reversing this. I now hold the power to myself and use it believe in myself. Believe I am worthy and I don’t need others approval. Yet, on the same time, keep believing in other people and help them bring out the best in them and make them feel good about themselves. I love this new way of being me
I would like to give my power to not being afraid of really being aware of and experiencing the present moment
What a thought-provoking post!!
great answer.
