Goal check-in round dos

We’re now half-way into 2011, so I’m going to revisit some of my goals for the year once again.

Ask for what I need. This is probably the hardest goal I set for myself, which is why it’s first on the list. I’m getting better, but I think I could be more articulate. The first step was actually admitting when I need help and I’ve definitely been able to do that more. I think I could be more articulate in expressing exactly what it is that I need, so I’m going to focus on that.

Take my vitamins every day. Does a week of vitamins and then a week of no vitamins average out?

Keep volunteering. I’ve been looking into some involvement opportunities now that my schedule has wound down. Stay tuned!

Travel somewhere. While I would love love love for this goal to be achieved, I don’t know if it’s going to happen this year, time and money being two important factors. It’s been over two years since I’ve gone anywhere and I miss travelling (even if it’s across the state line!), but I have my whole life for that.

Listen to my body. I feel like I’ve made huge strides in this during since the beginning of summer! Admittedly it’s been easier with less distractions, but I’ve been so much more aware of what behaviors make my body feel good and bad and working with that.

I’d say six months in I’m doing pretty well!

Here’s dinner last night (it was awesome and I’m in a sharing mood)…

Stir-fried onion, broccoli, and carrots with two fried eggs.

Andddd…

Curry oat bran with Baker’s unsweetened chocolate.

Did you have any goals for the year? How are they going?

Today’s jam sounds like a hug. It has been giving me so much comfort lately! Check it.

What’s Golden

I’m feeling so tech-ed out it’s ridiculous.

First, thank you to Jess for helping me solve my camera issues!

Second, after almost 11 months of blogging, I finally figured out how to put videos in my posts. So get ready for me to go overboard with that.

Do any of you guys remember this song?

In eighth grade this was my JAM!

A new food!

Sometimes I wish the world was a little smaller…

…then I would have amazing people to with whom to hit up concerts and play board games with!

(I know that sentence was a grammatical fail, but I wasn’t sure how to correct it. If you have the answer, please comment below!)

I thought it was interesting (yet not surprising) that few of you would do all of the activities with me. That is totally okay. It just reinforced my belief that one person does not usually fulfill every roles in our lives. I try to keep a wide variety of people in my life to meet my different needs, but I also try to accept where there are some holes and not force anyone to fill them.

Tangent! (I need to work on some quality segues)

I tried my first Japanese sweet potato this weekend!

I picked up two at the farmer’s market on Friday. I thought that was a little odd but whatever. The vendor told me that these were sweeter and creamier than your average orange sweet potato – she was right! The skin is purple but the inside is white.

Two things worth noting:

  • I realized about 5 seconds ago that I don’t like the word “creamier”.
  • I have been obsessed with pouring cinnamon onto things lately. I’ve even been sticking my finger in the cinnamon container for little tastes. This seems a bit taboo…like drinking pickle juice.

Okay folks, let’s make it an awesome Monday. I’m holding you all accountable.

And if you are so inclined, feel free to answer any/all of these questions:

  1. How would you correct my first sentence in this post?
  2. What’s the last new food you’ve tried?
  3. And a camera question! For the past week or so I’ve noticed that when I’ve been loading pictures onto my computer they are at a higher pixel count and less rectangular (more square in shape). Does anyone know to get my pictures to go back to the more rectangular proportions? I’m sorry if that’s vague. I can give more information to anyone who thinks they might be able to help. Just shoot me an email!

Stay smiling everyone!
