The Blogger’s Post

Did you guys watch the Oscars last night? My favorite part is the red carpet, but I was kind of excited for the actual ceremony this year since I’ve seen a bunch of the movies. Usually I’m lucky to have seen one or two, but going into last night I’d watched Winter’s Bone, Inception, Toy Story 3, The Social Network, and The King’s Speech.

My thoughts:

  • Favorite dresses were Cate Blanchett, Amy Adams, and the red dress that Anne Hathaway wore on the red carpet.
  • I was so pleased that The King’s Speech won so many awards. Out of the nominated films I saw this year, it was by far my favorite, and Colin Firth was superb.
  • While I adore James Franco and Anne Hathaway, it was painful for me to watch them host.

Oscar thoughts?

New music alert! Rose told me last week that I needed to check out Radiohead’s new album, The King of Limbs. I did and I love it! It’s not “dance” or “electronica”, though it may sound that way at first. It’s actually really soulful in my opinion. I should also add that if you’re new to Radiohead, you should know that like Charles Dickens, it’s not the easiest to jump into. Give yourself some time; a lazy afternoon perhaps?

Bixies

Back in my life this week…

~

Weetabix!

~

I call ‘em Bixies. In my house growing up we didn’t have a lot of sugary cereal. Shredded wheat, bran twigs, and Cheerios were the staples. Sometimes we got a little crazy and purchased Life. I know many people find the plain varieties to be bland but to me they are comfort foods that remind me of being a kid!

Yesterday’s breakfast:

Weetabix with banana, almond milk, and peanut butter.

~

Another cereal habit I picked up as kid? Always warm it in the microwave!

~

I also wore my new Larabar shirt to class yesterday:

Reppin’.

Peace

For the last two days, one word has dominated my journaling.

~

Peace.

It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of things and still be calm in your heart.

Maybe we can’t get world peace happening any time soon, but we can try our darnedest for individual peace, no?

Have a lovely Thursday!
